Biography of Kareem Raïhani
“Through music & dance we embrace ancient & future, acoustics & electronics, tribal and urban, hitech & roots, connecting with the self, mother earth and the universe.” – Kareem Raihani
Being raised in 2 different cultures, Morocco & the Netherlands, Kareem's music is all about bringing worlds together. Kareem’s productions find him traveling into a voyage through the labyrinths of music from all around the world, resulting in exploding Dj sets setting the dancefloor on fire, juicy projects and Kareem’s first album : Hitech Roots.
This album is created by blending tumbling beats and rhythms with musicians and vocalists from different cultures. The album is very much inspired by the many gatherings, parties, festivals and clubs where Kareem is performing as he experiences these places as sacred, where life is being celebrated through music & dance.
Kareem's remix releases: "Says Kabir – Kareem Raihani broken mix", from Praful's album Pyramids in my Backyard was promoted as soon as it came out for 6 weeks in a row on BBC1 radio by: Djs Bobby Friction & Nihal and for many weeks by Dj Phataan’s Musical Rikshaw. Not forgetting the many "global" club & festival Djs who play it on the place where it is made for: the Dance floor.
Kareem’s Says Kabir Remix is also featured on many compilations world wide. Check out more remixes in the player.
From the first and second ep release on, Kareem’s other project “Red Fulka” with his friend and musical partner Praful, has made a bang! The international upfront music scene and the crowd had great and loving feedbacks, resulting in a remix for Deva Premal & Miten from their song “Om Tare Tuttare” . The Red Fulka Remix version is being compiled on the Yoga Revolution cd together with artists such as: Michael Franti, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Seal, Sheryl Crow, Ziggy Marley, Krishna Das, Anoushka Shankar, Karsh Kale, Sarah McLachlan and others.
Although Kareem’s profession is Dj, Producer, Composer, Remixer, his performing output is by Dj-ing. Kareem’s Dj sets are a mix of 50% of his own productions and remixes and 50% other music, but all depends on the moment… If we would ad some words to his mix we would say: heart, ecstasy, deep, exploding, trance, tribal, electronic, euphoric, melodic, positive, joyfull and swet! Music filled with echoes of past, present and future, all continents are represented... adding samples, effects, sounds, live remixing and whenever, live musicians, Kareem is always reaching for that moment where the trance kicks in, the body is dancing, time is forgotten..
